Eland Package

  • Its name comes from the Dutch 'eland', which means 'elk'.
  • Eland is the largest of the African antelope and can stand at a height of 2 meters at the shoulder.
  • In spite of their large size, elands can jump long distances and heights. An adult eland can jump up to a height of 2.4 meters from a standstill position.
  • The most impressive part of an eland's anatomy is its horns, which can grow up to three feet in length. In elands, it is the females that have longer but more delicate horns than that of the males.

At Cape Eland Safaris we offer two different packages for this species.

Blue Wildebeest

Blue Wildebeest Package

  • Gnu has derived its name ‘wildebeest’ from Dutch, which means wild beast. It is named so because of the hairy mane and horns.
  •  The physical appearance of this large African grey animal resembles the combination of several others. It has taken its head from an ox, mane from a horse, and horns from a buffalo.
  • In terms of population and biomass, wildebeests are considered a big game species. Blue Wildebeests are bigger than Black Wildebeests in terms of weight and size.
  • Like the Cape Buffalo the Blue Wildebeest also has a reputation for being very tenacious and hard to kill. Therefore Blue Wildebeest have earned the nickname of "Poor Man's Buffalo" from hunters.
